About the position

The Foster Care Case Manager at Samaritas is responsible for managing a caseload of children and families, providing essential support and guidance to help them develop healthy relationships. This full-time position involves case management, documentation, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the well-being of clients. The role is hybrid, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work, and requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assume primary responsibility for all cases on assigned caseload.
  • Provide a range of case management, including social casework, engagement, mentoring, and community referral.
  • Collect, assess and document appropriate data and client progress.
  • Complete documentation, reports, statistics, and assignments within required time frames.
  • Work collaboratively with referral sources, agencies, institutions, and individuals involved in the client's life situation.
  • Prepare for and attend all scheduled court hearings on assigned caseload.
  • Take primary responsibility for intake and initial placement services for newly referred cases.
  • Coordinate placement arrangements with caregivers, including transportation of children as needed.
  • Provide intensive supportive casework services to child, birth family, and caregiver during initial placement and replacement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human service field.
  • One year experience in child welfare, preferred.
  • Licensed by the State of Michigan preferred.
  • Unrestricted valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served.
