About the position

The Foster Care Training and Licensing Coordinator is responsible for training and licensing family foster care homes in Iredell County. This role ensures that the organization has the necessary resources and family homes to provide safe and nurturing environments for children in need, averaging 12-15 homes per year. The position involves collaboration with a targeted recruitment committee and plays a critical part in maintaining high standards of care and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-service and continuing education training sessions for new and existing foster homes using agency approved models of care.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, faith-based groups, and other potential partners to host training sessions.
  • Research and monitor industry trends, standards, and best practices to incorporate into training modules.
  • Track and report quality improvement data related to training effectiveness.
  • Complete thorough mutual home assessments for prospective foster homes.
  • Complete all required licensing documentation to ensure homes are approved without delay once pre-service training is completed.
  • Complete efficient and timely licensing transfers for applicable homes.
  • Utilize electronic tracking systems to ensure licensing documentation follows licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop strategies for the expansion of the foster care program, including identifying new recruitment markets.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to support program operations and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of foster care programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Previous work experience in a related field is required.
  • Certification in a state-mandated foster parent training curriculum or the ability to gain certification is required.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of foster care regulations and best practices.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
