About the position

The Founding AI Engineer will be a pivotal role in a fintech startup focused on developing a revolutionary LLM platform for financial services. This position involves leading all LLM projects, overseeing the end-to-end development and deployment of machine learning models, and acting as a thought leader in AI across the organization. The role requires close collaboration with the C-suite and the responsibility of building and scaling the AI team and its products.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end machine learning model development and deployment for the company's AI platform.
• Report directly to the C-suite and collaborate on technical direction.
• Own the development of new Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and transition them into production, focusing on novel NLP and LLM applications.
• Implement and design code for production using various machine learning and LLM techniques.
• Play an integral role in building out the AI team and scaling its product offerings.
• Act as a thought leader for AI across the business.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience in building and deploying natural language and LLM models.
• Experience in a scaling startup, ideally having seen multiple funding rounds.
• Expertise in Python (TensorFlow, PyTorch) for production-grade work.
• Commercial experience in building novel NLP and LLM AI platforms with large datasets.
• Cloud experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred.
• History of working on models from concept to production (end-to-end).
• Experience in settings wearing multiple hats.
• Domain experience in financial services, investment, or accounting is a plus.
• History of partnering with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience as a player/coach or manager for AI teams preferred.
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or similar.

• Experience in financial services or related domains.
• Familiarity with generative AI technologies.
