About the position

The Bilingual Special Education Manager at YES Prep Brays Oaks Elementary is responsible for leading and managing special education initiatives, ensuring compliance with special education laws, and fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities. This role involves collaboration with school leadership and staff to develop action plans, set educational goals, and provide training and support to teachers. The manager will also oversee the implementation of special education programs and maintain communication with families regarding student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Set special education goals/initiatives aligned to campus strategic priorities and ensure timely data collection and review of progress.
  • Work with Principal, Assistant Principal, and Home Office Special Education team to develop action plans for student engagement in rigorous learning.
  • Manage, evaluate, and develop at least one member of the Special Education team or manage significant processes independently.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of content, compliance timelines, and Special Education law.
  • Collaborate with General Education staff to identify academic needs and provide targeted instruction for Special Education students.
  • Attend Grade Level meetings to assist with interventions for both regular and Special Education students.
  • Meet regularly with campus administrators to discuss required paperwork, upcoming due dates, and areas of growth for Special Education staff.
  • Assist in planning and delivering instructional training sessions and staff development workshops for teachers.
  • Supervise the implementation of district and state assessments for Special Education students.
  • Ensure compliance with all Special Education paperwork and maintain accurate state audit folders.
  • Identify students suspected of having a disability and refer them for evaluation.
  • Prepare and conduct ARD/IEP meetings according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous instruction in inclusive settings based on student needs.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and organized learning environment.
  • Inform Special Education students and families about progress and conduct home visits when necessary.
  • Actively participate in all designated teams and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in Special Education
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Hold a standard Texas teaching certification in Special Education
  • Hold a Texas Bilingual certification within the first school year of employment
  • Belief in and commitment to the mission and core values of YES Prep Public Schools
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress

Nice-to-haves
