About the position

The Business Operations Manager (BOM) at KIPP Stockton High School is responsible for overseeing the school's core business functions, including accounting, human resources, facilities, and technology. This role involves managing day-to-day operations in the front office, ensuring a welcoming environment for families and guests, and maintaining compliance with school policies. The BOM collaborates closely with the Director of School Operations and other teams to optimize school systems and processes, ensuring financial security and operational efficiency during both in-person and virtual learning.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily office operations and maintain a pristine office environment.
  • Model and uphold a positive school culture by welcoming families and directing guests professionally.
  • Draft, translate, and distribute school communications, including newsletters and bulletins.
  • Coordinate field trips and school-wide events in partnership with staff.
  • Administer basic first aid and maintain health and safety reports.
  • Oversee accounting, contracting, and vendor management procedures.
  • Manage school-wide procurement and financial policies in collaboration with the regional Accounting team.
  • Develop strategies for supplier selection to meet compliance requirements.
  • Manage on-campus maintenance and facilities issues with the regional Facilities team.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures in partnership with the regional HR team.
  • Administer school personnel matters, including payroll and benefits management.
  • Oversee substitute teacher coverage and manage expectations for staff.
  • Lead technology management and ensure upkeep of building technology and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience in office management, operations, accounting, human resources, or facilities management.
  • 1+ years of project or program management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite or Google Suite required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to self-direct, prioritize, and multi-task among competing goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and build relationships across teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in one or more languages spoken by the school community (Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese).
  • Previous experience with school-level data management systems (PowerSchool, CALPADS, SchoolMint, SchoolMessenger) preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
