About the position

The Foundry Production Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of a standalone business unit within the foundry. This position requires a candidate who is not only driven but also comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The company is in a growth phase, having recently hired a manufacturing engineer and planning to add new machines and expand the facility. The Foundry Production Manager will work closely with both the manufacturing engineer and corporate management, providing input and feedback on various operational aspects. The responsibilities of the Foundry Production Manager will encompass a wide range of tasks, including ensuring safety and quality standards are met, maintaining personnel records, managing timecards, and overseeing performance evaluations. The manager will also be involved in procurement and purchasing, production planning, and managing personnel. A strong floor presence is essential, as the manager will need to lead and motivate the team effectively. In addition to leadership and people management skills, the ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, particularly in reporting and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, costing, and waste reduction. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles is a must, and Six Sigma certification is preferred. The candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in metalworking processes and at least five years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety incidents, investigations, and concerns reporting.
  • Manage quality reporting, including COPQ/PPM activities and scrap/yield tracking.
  • Maintain personnel records and handle performance and disciplinary actions.
  • Track production activities and measures such as schedule attainment and productivity.
  • Manage inventory and tracking processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and report on their progress.
  • Support costing and quoting activities.
  • Assist in R&D, prototyping, and experimental projects.
  • Provide technical support to sales and customer service for routine and special projects.

Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in metalworking processes.
  • At least 5 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to report on KPIs and metrics.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing; Six Sigma certification preferred.
