About the position

The Foundry Worker position involves melting and pouring metal into ceramic molds to produce aluminum and steel castings. This role is critical in ensuring that the castings meet quality standards and involves various tasks such as preparing molds, handling metal, and recording data related to the casting process. The position requires adherence to safety and quality protocols in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and handle supplied molds to ensure castings meet quality standards.
  • Prep molds per procedures (kaowool etc.).
  • Load molds into ovens according to production requirements.
  • Prep metal for pouring (degas, chemical additions, etc.).
  • Pull molds from ovens and deliver to appropriate pouring location.
  • Pour metal into molds according to procedures.
  • Record all information of temperatures and times for pours into computer.
  • Perform daily verifications on Spectrometer.
  • Place parts and/or test samples in Spectrometer to certify chemistry.
  • Confirm procedures are followed and ensure staging readiness of all pours.
  • Maintain lot integrity and ensure paperwork is properly done.
  • Assist other areas as needed.

Requirements

  • Able to work in a production environment.
  • Able to read and comprehend English.
  • Able to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and 100s.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. continuously.
  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Able to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Able to complete OSHA forklift certification through PCC Ogden.
  • Near vision requirements are Jaeger J1 in one eye, at no less than 12 inches; or Jaeger J2 in one eye, at no less than 16 inches.
