About the position

The Fourth Grade Teacher at Gourley Elementary is responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students. This one-year contract position focuses on developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and fostering a love for lifelong learning among students. The teacher will implement proficiency-based grading, differentiate instruction, and maintain effective communication with parents and colleagues to support student growth.

Responsibilities

• Teach core content areas as outlined in the USBE's Core Curriculum.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to individual student needs.
• Utilize effective teaching techniques to enhance student learning experiences.
• Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities, including recess and gymnasium duties.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to create a functional learning atmosphere.
• Evaluate students' academic and social growth, maintaining appropriate records and preparing progress reports.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress through various means.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
• Administer group standardized tests according to state and district procedures.
• Model professional and ethical standards in interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Utah State Board of Education approved teaching certification.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Strong computer and educational technology skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage a classroom and establish a positive learning environment.

Nice-to-haves
