About the position

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst role at Aflac Global Investments is designed for a candidate with experience in financial forecasting, management reporting, and process improvement. This position is integral to the Finance team, focusing on driving value through the development and execution of a multi-year corporate business plan related to financial forecasting, planning, analysis, and reporting for an insurance asset management firm. The FP&A Analyst will collaborate with various teams across the organization, including investment leaders in the U.S. and Japan, to enhance financial processes and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Global Investments leadership team in developing and executing multi-year financial plans, including rigorous actuals vs. budget analysis and forecasting.
  • Develop the company's annual financial planning processes and coordinate design and testing changes to financial models.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and collaborate with division representatives to resolve financial issues.
  • Support variance reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including actual to plan comparisons.
  • Analyze trends for various lines of business and investment strategies through forecast models and conduct special financial studies as requested.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and evaluate financial and statistical data, preparing required internal and external reports and analyses.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, maintaining accurate regulatory filings and implementing accounting procedures in compliance with GAAP and other standards.
  • Report, analyze, and interpret financial and operating data, including financial statements and performance assessments.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare updates and variance reports for management.
  • Assist in automating and standardizing financial modeling and reporting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of corporate-level finance experience, preferably in financial planning and forecasting within the insurance industry.
  • Experience with various investment asset classes such as Fixed Income, Public, Private, Alternatives, and Growth Assets.
  • Experience in implementing financial planning and automation tools like EPBCS, Anaplan, Planful, Alteryx is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP suite or similar is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of GAAP and Statutory Accounting, with an emphasis on insurance; knowledge of JGAAP is welcomed.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex financial analysis and related valuation methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA, CFA, or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Experience working in a global financial institution in FP&A is preferred.
  • Familiarity with automation tools for financial processes.
