About the position

The FP&A Analyst role at Aflac Global Investments involves financial forecasting, management reporting, and process improvement within the finance team. The analyst will contribute to the development and execution of multi-year financial plans, collaborating with various teams across the organization to drive value for Aflac's general account assets. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large financial data sets, focusing on enhancing financial planning processes through automation and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Global Investments leadership team in the development and execution of multi-year financial plans, providing rigorous actuals vs. budget analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Works with team members to develop the company's annual financial planning processes and prepares financial forecasts, collaborating closely with stakeholders to build accurate assumptions.
  • Supports variance reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, analyzing trends for various lines of business and conducting special financial studies as requested.
  • Collaborates with senior FP&A to analyze financial and statistical data, preparing internal and external reports and presenting conclusions to management.
  • Identifies and resolves accounting discrepancies, maintaining accurate regulatory filings and assisting with the implementation of accounting procedures in compliance with GAAP and other standards.
  • Reports and interprets financial and operating data, participating in the preparation of the annual financial plan.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts and prepares variance reports for management.
  • Assists in the automation and standardization of financial modeling and reporting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of corporate-level finance experience, preferably in financial planning and forecasting within the insurance industry.
  • Experience with various investment asset classes, including Fixed Income, Public, Private, Alternatives, and Growth Assets.
  • Experience in implementing financial planning and automation tools such as EPBCS, Anaplan, Planful, or Alteryx is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP suite or similar is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting, with an emphasis on insurance; knowledge of JGAAP is welcomed.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex financial analysis and related valuation methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA, CFA, or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Global experience in finance is strongly welcomed.
