About the position

FlexSteel, a Cactus Company, is seeking a dedicated FP&A Analyst to join our team in Houston, TX. This role is pivotal in driving the financial strategy and operational excellence of the company. The FP&A Analyst will play a crucial role in preparing the Company's financial monthly forecasts, conducting variance analysis of the operating plan, and assisting in the annual budget process. This position will also involve special projects that require financial consulting and strategic support to senior management. The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership to formulate the Company's financial and strategic plans. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining a monthly financial reporting package, reviewing and explaining variances between actual, forecast, and budget for income statement items, and collaborating with business unit heads to prepare annual operating and capital budgets. The FP&A Analyst will produce models to project long-term growth and analyze complex financial information to provide accurate and timely recommendations to management for decision-making purposes. In addition to these core responsibilities, the FP&A Analyst will maintain monthly company analytics and KPIs, develop analyses to track and evaluate operational and financial performance, and support senior management with in-depth analysis. The role requires effective communication of product and department performance results to senior management, as well as reviewing existing processes to develop recommendations for improvement. The FP&A Analyst will also prepare presentation materials for executive management and the board of directors, ensuring confidentiality of financial and market information at all times.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with executive leadership to formulate the Company's financial and strategic plan
• Prepare and maintain monthly financial reporting package
• Review and explain drivers causing variance between actual, forecast, and budget for income statement items as part of monthly financial review and reporting
• Work with business unit heads to prepare annual operating and capital budgets
• Produce models to project long term growth and determine the impacting business factors
• Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
• Maintain monthly company analytics and KPI's
• Develop analyses to track and evaluate company operational and financial performance
• Perform ad hoc financial modeling and analysis
• Support senior management team and departments heads with in-depth analysis
• Communicate to senior management the reasons behind the product/department performance and results
• Review existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvement
• Work with internal and external auditors on an as-needed basis
• Prepare presentation materials for executive management and board of directors
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and market information
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• MBA a plus
• 5+ years' experience in FP&A role or similar experience
• Experience in manufacturing industry in a Standard Costing environment preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Microsoft Access and Visual ERP skills a plus
• Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
• Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
• Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity
