About the position

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst position at ADM in Decatur, IL, is an exempt level role that plays a crucial part in enhancing the financial performance and forecasting of the Carbohydrate Solutions (CS) business. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to grow and develop their skills in a dynamic environment. The FP&A Analyst will work closely with business leaders to provide insights and drive actions that lead to improved financial outcomes. Reporting directly to the Global Carb Solutions FP&A Director, the analyst will also collaborate with the Business Unit Finance Director for Ethanol & Co-Products, ensuring alignment and strategic support across the organization. In this role, the FP&A Analyst will be responsible for delivering comprehensive performance reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes a focus on understanding variances compared to prior periods and the established plan or forecast. The analyst will assist in optimizing the asset footprint through detailed financial and operational analyses of various plant and product mix scenarios. Monitoring key metrics to identify opportunities and leakages in relation to the most recent forecasts will be a critical part of the job. The analyst will also provide analytical support to the global business unit team, helping them understand the drivers of performance. The position requires collaboration with controlling colleagues to design and implement process changes that enhance the relevance and insightfulness of the information available to management. The FP&A Analyst will prepare monthly profit and loss estimates and forward-looking financial forecasts, assist in building the annual business plan, and support the financial analysis and integration of mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, the analyst will work closely with Finance and Operations to track the completion and realization of profits from cost-saving initiatives, synergies, and major capital expenditure initiatives. Utilizing Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) to extract data and create insightful reports will be essential, as will partnering with the global controlling team to improve data quality and value. This role also involves undertaking special projects for business leadership and FP&A leads as needed, making it a versatile and engaging position for those looking to make a significant impact within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide monthly, quarterly and annual, driver-based performance reporting to business management, with an emphasis on understanding variances vs. prior periods and vs. plan/forecast
  • Assist in analysis of optimizing asset footprint including detailed analysis of financial and operational impacts of various plant/product mix scenarios
  • Monitor key metrics to identify leakages/opportunities to most recent forecast/plan
  • Provide analytical support to the global business unit team to understand business drivers of performance
  • Work closely with controlling colleagues to design and implement process changes to improve the relevance and insightfulness of information available to management
  • Prepare monthly P&L estimate and forward looking financial forecast
  • Assist in building the annual business plan including operating, capital and financial components
  • Assist in the financial analysis and integration of mergers and acquisitions
  • Work closely with Finance and Operations to track the completion and realization of profits from cost savings initiatives, synergies and major capex initiatives
  • Utilize HFM to extract data and create insightful reports for management; partner with the global controlling team to improve the quality and value of data captured by HFM and other Hyperion systems
  • Undertake special projects for business leadership and FPA leads as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, operations, or business related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years business related experience; MBA is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of ADM business units or related business
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment with multiple, changing and competing priorities
  • Ability to think and plan strategically
  • Exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Competence in IBM and HFM systems is a plus
  • Must be flexible to various work hours
