About the position

The FP&A Analyst at Sperry Rail Inc. plays a crucial role in driving financial initiatives, including financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and supports the company's financial planning and decision-making processes, ensuring operational efficiency and financial performance alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial models to support planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Analyze financial performance against key business metrics and document pertinent financial highlights.
  • Provide customer variance analysis in terms of price, volume, and mix, explaining differences between budgeted and actual results.
  • Partner with the operations team to understand and influence drivers of operational performance and costs.
  • Analyze and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operations, such as field efficiency and cost per shift.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, highlighting key insights and trends.
  • Conduct cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities in all areas of the company.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate the financial returns of various projects and business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other finance team members to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably with a focus on operations or manufacturing.
  • Proven experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and financial software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
