The FP&A and Program Analyst position at GE Vernova is a critical role responsible for providing comprehensive financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the Corporate sector, a specific business unit, or a Profit and Loss (P&L) segment within a business. The successful candidate will interpret internal and external business challenges, recommending best practices to enhance products, processes, or services. Staying informed of industry trends that may impact operations is essential for this role. GE Vernova's Advanced Research business serves as the innovation engine for GE's energy portfolio, unifying various energy businesses under the GE Vernova banner. The research organization comprises over 250 researchers from diverse scientific and engineering disciplines, collectively driving significant research programs aimed at decarbonizing power, accelerating renewable energy adoption, and promoting electrification. This role is pivotal in supporting these initiatives through effective financial management and analysis. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial estimates for planning by modeling various scenarios and assisting in the forecasting process, which includes strategic planning, budgeting, and short-range forecasts for income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Collaboration with Facilities and site leadership is necessary to plan, manage, and monitor major construction projects. The role also involves performing weekly tasks, creating monthly and quarterly reports for internal billing, and booking necessary journal entries. Additionally, the analyst will support functional analysis, ensuring that issues are resolved and controls are implemented to limit variability in financial reporting. The position requires a strong analytical mindset to review data for reasonableness, considering historical trends and current business activities before releasing information to stakeholders. The analyst will also support the business estimating process, provide budget planning and technical support to project leaders, and respond to client requests for customized data and reports. Furthermore, the role involves evaluating the impact of FP&A process improvements on IT infrastructure and controllership from both functional and systems perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure best estimate for planning purposes by modeling various scenarios
  • Assist forecasting process for income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
  • Work with Facilities and site leadership to plan, manage, and monitor major construction projects
  • Perform weekly tasks and create monthly/quarterly reports for internal billing needs
  • Book monthly/quarterly journal entries as necessary
  • Support functional analysis and relate monthly/quarterly closing and reporting efforts
  • Work with project/functional teams to ensure issues are resolved and controls are put in place
  • Analyze data for reasonableness and review variances
  • Support the Center's business estimating process utilizing financial and planning systems
  • Provide budget planning and technical support to project leaders of complex programs
  • Respond to client ad-hoc requests for customized data and reports
  • Consider the effects on relevant IT infrastructure and controllership when evaluating FP&A process improvements

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Accounting (or CPA), Finance or related field with a minimum of 3 years of related working experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with a minimum of 5 years of related working experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Solid project management knowledge base
  • Understanding of business processes and procedures
  • Expertise in financial management & analytical software such as Oracle and Tableau
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and delegate tasks
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
  • Must be 18 years or older
