About the position

The FP&A Financial Analyst at First Merchants Bank is responsible for analyzing and summarizing financial information across business segments. This role involves conducting margin analysis, variance and trend analysis, KPI reporting, and budget analysis to support the development of the annual plan. The position is hybrid, requiring on-site work three days a week at the Daleville Data Center in Indiana.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly analysis of business segment financial information including variance and trending analysis, reporting and analysis of key performance indicators and write financial summaries.
  • Analyze data to assist business partners utilizing available technology tools, including SQL and Power BI.
  • Perform analysis of budget information including run rates, one-time adjustments and impacts of initiatives to support the annual planning process.
  • Support development of line of business and departmental budgets and provide reporting and change tracking to support the annual planning process.
  • Support preparation of internal reporting including budget and quarterly business review management presentation material.
  • Fulfill requests to implement and/or enhance business segment reporting and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and file SEC Section 16 reports for directors and insiders, as well as related annual Federal Reserve reporting, as required.
  • Provide supporting documentation of Section 16 ownership for annual Proxy.
  • Assist with incentive plan forecasting and payout calculations as assigned.
  • Support system administration for budget and financial reporting software as assigned.
  • Complete periodic attestations and controls as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field of study.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of finance, accounting, or related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Banking or the Financial Services industry
  • Experience with financial statement analysis
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Beginner SQL or Power BI skills.
