About the position

The FP&A Senior Analyst at UC Irvine Health plays a crucial role in supporting the financial planning and analysis functions within the School of Medicine. Reporting directly to the Manager of School of Medicine Finance, this position collaborates closely with departmental leaders to provide financial insights that drive decision-making and enhance financial performance. The analyst will be involved in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and special projects, ensuring that financial data is accurately reported and understood across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Support the annual budgeting process for the School of Medicine.
  • Conduct financial quarterly forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Analyze and summarize actual vs plan reporting, explaining underlying drivers.
  • Provide financial consulting and strategic support to SOM departments and senior leadership.
  • Identify and propose process improvements and participate in reporting enhancements.
  • Manage relationships with SOM departments and stakeholders to foster collaboration.
  • Support school-wide financial planning and reporting, including rolling forecasts and long-range planning processes.
  • Assist in the publication of quarterly reports summarizing SOM's financial performance and key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
  • Advanced ability to present complex finance-related information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • In-depth ability to use spreadsheet and database software tools for complex financial analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and service orientation, with critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Advanced knowledge of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • BA/BS degree with 5-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
