About the position

Saluda Medical is seeking an FP&A Systems Analyst to support global Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities. This hands-on role is crucial for delivering long-range plans, annual operating plans (AOP), forecasts, and performance reporting. The analyst will work closely with the IT department and the broader finance team to enhance the utility, effectiveness, and efficiency of FP&A through business intelligence (BI) planning and reporting tools. The position is based in Bloomington, MN, and offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work. In this role, the FP&A Systems Analyst will be responsible for developing financial plans that align with Saluda's strategic goals. This includes analyzing commercial plans and business drivers, supporting the budgeting and forecasting process, and collaborating with business unit finance teams to establish plans and assumptions for achieving business targets. The analyst will also be tasked with developing and distributing KPI dashboards, automating data and reporting, and addressing material changes in outlook promptly. The analyst will engage in scenario analysis, modeling business scenarios, and developing contingency plans to navigate changes in market conditions. They will partner with various business units to develop and deliver on their financial plans, ensuring accurate monthly results and timely distribution of action-oriented KPI dashboards. Additionally, the role involves leading and coordinating studies to evaluate potential solutions for automating existing or proposed work functions, ensuring that FP&A information systems support the team's objectives, and managing external vendor relationships for system functionality design and implementation. The FP&A Systems Analyst will also play a key role in maintaining an effective internal control environment, working alongside the global financial accounting team to ensure the integrity of financial information and compliance with financial policies and protocols. This position requires a strong understanding of internal controls monitoring and compliance auditing, as well as the ability to support global internal controls activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of financial plans that achieve Saluda's overall strategic goals, including analysis of commercial plans and business drivers.
  • Support and continuously develop the long-term planning model, ensuring alignment with the long-term strategic plan and business objectives.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with business unit finance teams to establish plans and assumptions for achieving business targets.
  • Support the development and distribution of KPI dashboards, automating data and reporting while promptly addressing material changes in outlook.
  • Support scenario analysis, modeling business scenarios and developing contingency plans to navigate changes in market conditions.
  • Partner with the business where required to develop and deliver on their financial plans.
  • Support the delivery of accurate monthly results, forecast and budget pack, as well as oversight and distribution of action-oriented KPI dashboards.
  • Ensure month-end processes are relevant, accurate, and timely.
  • Support efforts to continuously improve financial performance management processes, reports, and KPIs for the business.
  • Lead and coordinate studies to assist the FP&A team in evaluating potential solutions for automating existing or proposed work functions or processes.
  • Ensure that FP&A information systems support the FP&A team's objectives and coordinate the process of defining, analyzing, and solving problems related to the FP&A systems and special projects.
  • Analyze new business requirements, customer pain points and gaps, system functionality, current system use, and future needs; perform gap analysis between current state and future state; specify functional designs and work with developers and stakeholders to implement.
  • Support the development of system designs for new or enhanced FP&A business systems; determine and document input/output requirements, procedural flow among departments and organizations resulting in end-to-end processes.
  • Manage external vendors or partner relationships when working on new system functionality design and implementation.
  • Review and approve FP&A systems development (e.g., code review; test scripts; etc.).
  • Research and sustain domain expertise on current trends, strategies, and technologies to help move Saluda's FP&A technologies forward.
  • Produce high-quality documentation of processes and systems.
  • Support the performance of system configuration, testing, and provide support.
  • Undertake project management activities related to FP&A IT solutions.
  • Ensure an effective internal control environment to ensure integrity of financial information.

Requirements

  • Proven FP&A experience in complex operating environments, including delivery of budgets/forecasts, management reports, month-end, and analytics.
  • 5+ years of commercial experience in a multinational organization.
  • Solid knowledge of sales, commercial and market model support, and R&D portfolio management.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills, attention to detail, and advanced financial modeling.
  • Extensive experience with BI tools (Workday Analytics, Power BI, or similar) and ERPs (e.g., QAD or similar).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high-performing teams.
  • Experience in a process improvement methodology, for example, Lean or Six Sigma.
