About the position

The Boeing Company is seeking experienced FPGA Design Engineers (Lead or Senior) to join their Digital Avionics team. This role involves developing high assurance FPGA devices for advanced commercial and military avionics systems. Candidates will work on the entire FPGA design lifecycle, including VHDL coding, prototyping, and design reviews, while also driving continuous improvement in FPGA development processes. The position is fully onsite at one of the Boeing AvionX locations in Arizona, Texas, or Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Perform FPGA design on single or multi-FPGA programs working on small or large teams.
• Support FPGA development projects requiring early proof of concept designs and high assurance FPGA development programs.
• Collaborate with system, hardware, and software engineers to capture requirements and architect digital logic functions.
• Explore trade-space of potential ASIC/FPGA technologies and determine optimal parts based on SCRAP vs. performance.
• Drive robustness and rigor into early adopter technology solutions for high assurance Avionics solutions.
• Engage in FPGA/Hardware first time power up and during system, software, hardware, and FPGA lab integration.
• Contribute to continuously improving FPGA Design processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• 5+ years of experience working with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).
• 5+ years of experience with digital ASIC/FPGA verification/simulation.

Nice-to-haves

• 10+ years of related work experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience leading ASIC/FPGA design teams.
• Experience utilizing FPGA development and version control tools in a Linux environment.
• Experience designing FPGA or ASIC per DO-254 Design Assurance level A or B.
• Experience creating FPGA design documents for high assurance applications.
• Experience with Version Control or Production Release Systems: Git, ClearCase, Teamcenter.
• Experience with Aircraft Avionics Systems.
• Experience with FPGA troubleshooting in an engineering lab environment.
• Experience with DOORS for requirements management.
