About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an FPGA Development Engineer to join our team in Centreville, VA. This role is pivotal in developing high-speed digital logic using the latest technology to enhance AWS connectivity. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting, developing, and integrating scalable FPGA systems within the AWS technology ecosystem. This position requires a US Citizen who can obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. As an FPGA Development Engineer, you will develop custom RTL (Register Transfer Level) and integrate it with third-party libraries to create end-to-end solutions exceeding 100G. You will collaborate closely with design and system engineers to perform trade-offs and architect innovative solutions tailored to customer needs. Additionally, you will own the interface between software and hardware by developing drivers and providing software examples. Participation in design meetings to plan development and review peer designs is also a key aspect of this role. You will be expected to identify new opportunities and technologies that can enhance customer experience and add valuable features. In your daily work, you will be part of a cross-functional team of hardware and software developers, writing programmable logic and embedded software to interact with custom hardware. Debugging RTL in simulation, synthesizing, and implementing designs to meet timing and performance requirements will be part of your responsibilities. You will also deploy RTL onto hardware targets and assist in debugging issues that arise in RTL, hardware, or software. Your expertise will be crucial in architectural discussions and strategic planning meetings, contributing to the development of AWS-owned hardware solutions aimed at scaling globally, minimizing costs, and maximizing value for our customers.
