About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an FPGA Development Engineer to join our team in Springfield, Virginia. This role is pivotal in developing high-speed digital logic using the latest technology to enhance AWS connectivity. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting, developing, and integrating scalable FPGA systems within the AWS technology ecosystem. This position requires a US Citizen who can obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. As an FPGA Development Engineer, you will develop custom RTL (Register Transfer Level) and integrate it with third-party libraries to create end-to-end solutions exceeding 100G. You will collaborate closely with design and system engineers to evaluate trade-offs and architect innovative solutions tailored to customer needs. Additionally, you will own the interface between software and hardware by developing drivers and providing software examples. Participation in design meetings to plan development and review peer designs is also a key aspect of this role. In your daily work, you will be part of a cross-functional team of hardware and software developers, writing programmable logic and embedded software to interact with custom hardware. You will debug RTL in simulation, synthesize, and implement designs to ensure they meet timing and performance requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in deploying RTL onto hardware targets and troubleshooting issues that arise in RTL, hardware, or software. You will also provide subject matter expertise during architectural discussions and strategic planning meetings, contributing to the development of AWS-owned hardware solutions aimed at scaling globally, minimizing costs, and maximizing value for our customers.
