About the position

Thrivelab is seeking an experienced, part-time Lab Director to oversee laboratory operations in Los Angeles. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, lab setup, and equipment validation, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing the lab's operational standards and will be listed as the Lab Director on the CLIA certificate with the California Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the designated Lab Director on the CLIA certificate with the CDPH, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the planning and implementation of the lab's initial setup to meet CLIA and CDPH standards.
• Lead the validation process for all lab equipment, ensuring operational readiness and compliance.
• Establish and maintain quality assurance and quality control protocols for lab procedures.
• Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies and standard operating procedures.
• Support staff training and onboarding focused on regulatory compliance and lab safety protocols.
• Ensure accurate documentation of all lab activities, including validation reports and regulatory submissions.
• Provide expert guidance on industry best practices and regulatory updates.

Requirements

• California Laboratory Director licensure or eligibility to meet CDPH and CLIA qualifications.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical lab management experience, focusing on equipment validation and lab compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and CDPH regulations with a proven track record of compliance.
• Proficient in laboratory setup, equipment validation, and quality assurance processes.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
