About the position

As a Fraud Analyst I at Apruvd, you will play a crucial role in protecting ecommerce companies from fraudulent payments. This position requires a keen analytical mind and the ability to solve complex problems. You will be responsible for investigating ecommerce orders to determine their legitimacy, utilizing both data analysis and manual web research to build a comprehensive narrative around each transaction. Your work will involve understanding consumer behavior in ecommerce, identifying normal transactions, and recognizing fraudulent activity. The role is dynamic and collaborative, requiring you to stay updated on evolving fraud techniques and best practices. You will work closely with your peers to enhance fraud detection and prevention strategies, sharing insights and asking questions to improve methods. Adherence to company security and confidentiality policies is paramount, ensuring that services remain highly available while you perform your duties. This position is hybrid, with initial onsite training followed by a flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekends. You will be expected to work 40 hours a week, primarily from Wednesday to Sunday, with shifts starting in the afternoon and extending into the night. Your ability to make quick decisions in uncertain situations will be essential as you navigate the complexities of fraud detection in the ecommerce landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze ecommerce transaction details to decide if an order is legitimate or a fraud risk.
  • Develop a deep understanding of normal consumer behaviors in ecommerce.
  • Quickly learn to use several web tools, combined with manual research, to identify normal transactions.
  • Keep up to date with constantly evolving fraud techniques and best practices to combat them.
  • Collaborate with peers regarding fraud detection and prevention activities, posing questions and providing input on methods and best practices.
  • Adhere to company security and confidentiality policies while ensuring services remain highly available.
  • Utilize and follow department tools and guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of web browser experience preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Advanced web browser and search engine techniques.
  • Comfortable working on repetitive tasks from a queue.
  • Attention to details.
  • Written communication skills.
  • Curious and inquisitive nature.
  • Ability to make important decisions quickly with some uncertainty.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fraud/risk related experience is a plus but not required.
