About the position

Commonwealth is seeking a Fraud Analyst to join its Fraud and Senior Investor Protection department. This role is crucial for investigating and preventing financial fraud and exploitation, particularly for vulnerable clients. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a balance between remote and in-office work, and emphasizes a supportive work environment that values employee growth and work/life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine to complex investigations of suspected financial exploitation and fraud.
  • Perform fraud risk identification and prevention functions, including suspicious activity monitoring and forensic accounting reviews.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to advance investigations and reduce fraud loss.
  • Consult financial advisors on identifying fraud risks and advising clients on asset protection strategies.
  • Maintain awareness campaigns for the advisor community and home office employees.
  • Provide regular reporting to management on alert and case volume, threats, and trends.
  • Prepare and file suspicious activity reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in financial fraud and exploitation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in an anti-money laundering or fraud investigation environment in the financial services industry or law enforcement.
  • Proven expertise in financial investigations using risk-based judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional client focus with the ability to build relationships and establish trust quickly.
  • Experience working with external entities such as law enforcement and regulators.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CAMS or CFE certification preferred or ability to obtain within 12-24 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of estate planning and trust documentation.
  • Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations.
  • Experience in NICE Actimize is a plus.
  • Active and valid FINRA Series 7 is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
