About the position
The Fraud Investigator at State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) is responsible for monitoring transactions, analyzing data for suspicious activity, and investigating fraud claims. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with regulations, minimizing financial losses, and implementing effective fraud controls. The investigator will work closely with various departments and law enforcement to report fraud cases and trends, while also overseeing physical security measures across SDFCU properties.
Responsibilities
- Monitor transactions for suspicious activity.
- Analyze data to identify potential fraud cases.
- Investigate and process fraud claims thoroughly.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Report fraud cases and trends to relevant departments and law enforcement.
- Utilize data analytics to identify emerging fraud trends.
- Implement effective fraud controls to mitigate risks.
- Monitor physical security devices across SDFCU properties.
Requirements
- Minimum five years' experience in fraud analysis, risk management, or a related area, preferably in the financial services industry.
- AA or B.A. in Business, Criminal Justice or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g. BSA, AML).
- Strong analytical, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
