About the position

This position is for a Fraud Expert who will provide decision support across various business areas within the enterprise. The role involves applying mathematical and statistical techniques, as well as innovative analytical approaches, to draw conclusions and make actionable recommendations that align with business objectives and drive change. The Decision Science Analyst will gather, manipulate, and synthesize data, models, and other relevant information to formulate implementable strategies. The responsibilities include leveraging expert business and analytical knowledge to lead discussions with cross-functional teams, applying advanced analytical techniques to solve large-scale business problems, and organizing the development of necessary resources to meet established objectives. The analyst will also translate recommendations into communication materials for all management levels, incorporating visualization techniques to enhance understanding for less technical audiences. Additionally, the role requires identifying and gathering quality data sources, integrating disparate data, and ensuring proper documentation of assumptions and methodologies for compliance. The analyst will monitor emerging technologies that can impact scientific methodologies and will succinctly deliver complex analyses to influence senior executives and drive business decisions. Subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations is essential, as is the pursuit of industry-leading practices in data and analytics. The role also emphasizes the importance of risk management in accordance with compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage expert business, analytical, and technical knowledge to lead discussions with cross-functional teams.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to solve large-scale business problems.
  • Organize and oversee the development of requirements/resources necessary to meet established objectives.
  • Translate recommendations into communication materials for all management levels.
  • Incorporate visualization techniques to support analysis and ease understanding for less technical audiences.
  • Identify and gather relevant and quality data sources for problem-solving.
  • Integrate and transform disparate data sources and apply appropriate data hygiene techniques.
  • Document assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing for peer reviews and compliance.
  • Monitor and adopt emerging technology affecting scientific methodologies and analytical approaches.
  • Deliver complex analysis/findings succinctly to influence senior executives and drive business decisions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations.
  • Research and pursue industry-leading practices in data and analytics.
  • Identify opportunities for continued learning in the data and analytics space.
  • Innovate to create new data sets and insights.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data Science, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience may substitute for degree.
  • 8 years of data & analytics experience; OR 6 years of data & analytics experience with up to 2 years of progressive functional business experience for a total of 8 years combined experience; OR an advanced degree in a quantitative analytics field and 6 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience.
  • 3 years of direct and/or indirect management experience.
  • Expert skills in mathematical and statistical techniques for fact-based decision-making.
  • Expert knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, and relevant industry data & methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Several years working on a fraud analytics team with responsibility for fraud losses.
  • Subject Matter Expert in multiple product areas with experience building strategies to prevent fraud.
  • Experience in multiple coding languages (SQL, SAS, Python) and visualization tools (Tableau).
  • Proven thought leadership in developing and solving unique fraud attacks.
  • Experience mentoring and teaching teammates.
