About the position

SquareTrade is seeking a Fraud Strategy Process Lead to join our Trust & Safety department. This role is crucial in helping the business effectively mitigate fraud risk in a rapidly changing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing fraud strategies that align with the business's risk appetite, ultimately impacting millions of customers globally through partnership, education, analysis, and influence. The primary goal of this position is to reduce fraud losses by identifying trends and developing effective fraud strategies and business rules. Additionally, the role aims to improve the efficiency of fraud prevention processes and minimize negative customer experiences by understanding friction points and implementing technology-based solutions to manage trends. In this role, you will analyze fraud vectors across SquareTrade's platform, focusing on both first-party and third-party fraud types. You will develop and maintain metrics and KPIs that measure the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and communicate progress to key stakeholders and leadership. Collaboration is key, as you will coordinate with our dedicated Fraud Operations team on policies, procedures, and investigative practices. You will also manage and lead strategic initiatives and projects that focus on both fraud prevention and business growth while ensuring a positive customer experience. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on interesting problems that have a direct impact on the business. You will tackle global issues and address different regional fraud challenges, all while being part of a highly impactful team that takes ownership of projects and drives change. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fraud strategies that align with the business's risk appetite.
  • Analyze fraud vectors across SquareTrade's platform to identify bad actors and improve customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and KPIs to measure risk mitigation strategies and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Fraud Operations team on policies, procedures, and investigative practices.
  • Manage and lead strategic initiatives for fraud prevention and business growth while ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement fraud detection and prevention controls.
  • Manipulate large datasets using analytical techniques to monitor customer behaviors and detect trends in fraudulent activity.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities and strategies to strengthen controls, processes, and systems.
  • Work with internal teams and third parties to monitor risk trends and ensure compliance with industry best practices.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in developing strategies, policies, and procedures for fraud prevention.
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of data abstraction using SQL, R, SAS, or Python.
  • Experience with fraud detection capabilities and rule management systems.
  • Ability to present complex findings to senior leaders and executives.
  • Collaborative mindset to work with functional groups such as Customer Service, Product Management, and Technology.
