About the position

As a member of the Fraud Strategy within the Trust & Safety department at SquareTrade, the Fraud Strategy Process Lead plays a crucial role in mitigating fraud risk in a dynamic and evolving environment. This position is responsible for developing and implementing fraud strategies that align with the business's risk appetite, ultimately impacting millions of customers globally. The role involves a combination of partnership, education, analysis, and influence to effectively reduce fraud losses. The successful candidate will identify trends in fraudulent activities and develop business rules to enhance fraud prevention processes while minimizing negative customer experiences. In this role, you will work on detecting various emerging fraud patterns, spanning both first and third-party fraud types, and develop key solutions to prevent them. You will have high visibility within the organization, interacting with senior leaders and executives globally. Your responsibilities will include identifying and implementing tools to help the organization address fraud, tackling global issues, and working on different regional fraud challenges. You will be part of a highly impactful team that takes ownership of projects and drives change, supporting the company's commitment to protecting customer data and system integrity. The opportunity also involves analyzing fraud vectors across SquareTrade's platform, developing and maintaining metrics and KPIs to measure risk mitigation strategies, and communicating progress to key stakeholders. You will coordinate with the Fraud Operations team on policies and procedures, manage strategic initiatives for fraud prevention and business growth, and collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to design and implement fraud detection and prevention controls. Additionally, you will manipulate large amounts of complex data using data-driven analytical techniques to monitor customer behaviors, detect trends in fraudulent activity, and develop strategies to mitigate risk and improve customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fraud strategies that align with the business's risk appetite.
  • Analyze fraud vectors across SquareTrade's platform to identify bad actors and improve customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and KPIs to measure risk mitigation strategies and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Fraud Operations team on policies, procedures, and investigative practices.
  • Manage and lead strategic initiatives for fraud prevention and business growth while ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement fraud detection and prevention controls.
  • Manipulate large amounts of complex data to monitor customer behaviors and detect trends in fraudulent activity.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities and strategies to strengthen controls, processes, and systems.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in developing strategies, policies, and procedures that direct user behavior.
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of data abstraction using SQL, R, SAS, Python, etc.
  • Proven ability to process vast amounts of data into meaningful information that drives effective changes.
  • Experience with various fraud detection capabilities, including fraud prevention rule management systems and customer verification technologies.
  • Ability to effectively interact with senior leaders and executives to present complex findings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fraud prevention rule management systems, device profiling, and document verification technologies.
  • Experience in collaborating with functional groups such as Customer Service, Product Management, and Technology.
