About the position

As a member of the Fraud Strategy team within the Trust & Safety department at SquareTrade, you will play a crucial role in mitigating fraud risk in a dynamic and evolving environment. This position is responsible for developing and implementing fraud strategies that align with the business's risk appetite, ultimately impacting millions of customers globally. Your efforts will focus on reducing fraud losses by identifying trends and creating effective fraud strategies and business rules. Additionally, you will work to improve the efficiency of fraud prevention processes and minimize negative customer experiences by addressing friction points and implementing technology-based solutions. In this role, you will analyze various fraud vectors across SquareTrade's platform, including both first-party and third-party fraud types. You will develop and maintain metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and communicate progress to key stakeholders and leadership. Collaboration is key, as you will coordinate with the dedicated Fraud Operations team on policies, procedures, and investigative practices. You will also manage and lead strategic initiatives and projects that focus on both fraud prevention and business growth while ensuring a positive customer experience. Your work will involve manipulating large amounts of complex data using data-driven analytical techniques to monitor customer behaviors, detect trends in fraudulent activity, and develop strategies to mitigate risk. You will proactively identify new opportunities to strengthen controls, processes, and systems, working closely with internal teams and third parties to monitor risk trends and adhere to industry best practices and compliance obligations. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fraud strategies that align with the business's risk appetite.
  • Analyze fraud vectors across SquareTrade's platform to identify bad actors and improve customer experience.
  • Maintain metrics and KPIs to measure risk mitigation strategies and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Fraud Operations team on policies, procedures, and investigative practices.
  • Manage and lead strategic initiatives for fraud prevention and business growth while ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement fraud detection and prevention controls.
  • Manipulate complex data to monitor customer behaviors and detect trends in fraudulent activity.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen controls, processes, and systems.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in developing strategies, policies, and procedures for fraud prevention.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of data abstraction using SQL, R, SAS, Python, or similar tools.
  • Experience with fraud detection capabilities and rule management systems.
  • Ability to effectively interact with senior leaders and executives to present findings and progress.
  • Proven ability to process large amounts of data into meaningful information that drives effective changes.
