About the position

As a member of the Fraud Strategy within the Trust & Safety department at SquareTrade, this role is crucial in ensuring that the business effectively mitigates fraud risk in a constantly evolving environment. The Fraud Strategy Process Lead will be responsible for developing comprehensive fraud strategies that align with the business's risk appetite, ultimately impacting millions of customers globally through collaboration, education, analysis, and influence. The success of this role is measured by the ability to reduce fraud losses through the identification of trends and the development of effective fraud strategies and business rules. Additionally, the role aims to improve the efficiency of fraud prevention processes and minimize negative customer experiences by understanding friction points and implementing technology-based solutions to manage emerging trends. In this position, you will analyze various fraud patterns, including both first and third-party fraud types, and develop key solutions to prevent them. You will have high visibility within the organization, regularly communicating and interacting with senior leaders and executives globally. Your responsibilities will include identifying and implementing tools that help the organization detect and address fraud, tackling global issues, and working on different regional fraud challenges. You will be part of a highly impactful team that takes ownership of projects and drives change while supporting the company's commitment to protecting customer data and maintaining system integrity. The dynamic and fast-paced environment ensures that you will face a variety of interesting problems that have a direct impact on the business.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze fraud vectors across SquareTrade's platform to develop strategies that identify bad actors and improve customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and KPIs that measure risk mitigation strategies and communicate progress to key stakeholders and leadership.
  • Coordinate and strategize with the Fraud Operations team on policies, procedures, and investigative practices.
  • Manage and lead strategic initiatives and projects for fraud prevention and business growth while ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams including product, operations, legal, analytics, compliance, and engineering to design and implement fraud detection and prevention controls.
  • Manipulate large amounts of complex data using data-driven analytical techniques to monitor customer behaviors and detect trends in fraudulent activity.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities and strategies to strengthen controls, processes, and systems.
  • Work with internal teams and third parties to monitor risk trends and ensure compliance with industry best practices.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in developing strategies, policies, and procedures that direct user behavior.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of data abstraction using SQL, R, SAS, Python, or similar tools.
  • Proven ability to process large amounts of data into meaningful information that drives effective changes.
  • Experience with various fraud detection capabilities, including fraud prevention rule management systems and customer verification technologies.
  • Ability to effectively interact with senior leaders and executives to present complex findings and outline progress.
