About the position

The Freedom Boat Club HR Team is seeking an HR Specialist to enhance the employee onboarding experience across all corporate-owned locations. This role is pivotal in ensuring that new employees have a remarkable first experience with Freedom Boat Club. The HR Specialist will be responsible for managing the entire onboarding process, which includes coordinating new hire orientations, improving the onboarding experience, and ensuring effective communication with new employees. This position also involves working closely with various HR functions, including Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Compensation and Benefits, and IT, to ensure a seamless onboarding process. In addition to onboarding, the HR Specialist will engage in HRIS data management, policy and program administration, reporting and analysis, and process improvement initiatives. The role requires excellent customer service skills to address employee inquiries and requests, as well as the ability to analyze and implement improvements to the onboarding process. The HR Specialist will also be responsible for pulling reports and providing analytics related to people metrics, executing changes within Workday (the HRIS system), and maintaining HR forms and employee files. Furthermore, the role may involve assisting with administering FMLA, workers compensation, and other HR programs as needed. Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service skills while answering employee requests and questions
  • Assess, analyze and execute improvements to the current employee onboarding experience
  • Coordinate all aspects of the onboarding process
  • Create and implement a consistent new hire orientation
  • Develop opportunities to drive strong employee engagement
  • Partner effectively with specialist groups such as Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Compensation and Benefits, and IT
  • Pull reports and provide analytics related to people metrics
  • Execute changes within Workday, the HRIS system
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of HR forms, documents and employee files
  • Help with administering FMLA, workers compensation and other HR programs as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement
  • High attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must handle confidential and sensitive material appropriately and with discretion

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting an hourly workforce is preferred
  • Working understanding of human resources principles, practice and procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
