About the position
Outlier is seeking talented writers with fluency in English to assist in training generative artificial intelligence models. This reading and writing-intensive freelance opportunity is remote, allowing for flexible hours, so you can work whenever is most convenient for you. As a writer, you will contribute your expertise by engaging in various tasks that include reading English text to rank a series of responses generated by an AI model, writing and rewriting prompts and responses—which may involve research and fact-checking—and assessing the factuality and relevance of the text produced by AI models. This role is crucial in ensuring that the AI models are trained effectively and can produce high-quality outputs. The ideal candidate will have experience as a professional writer or editor and should be currently enrolled in or have completed an associate degree or higher in a writing-related discipline from an accredited institution. A strong sense of writing style, paired with exceptional English-language spelling and grammar, as well as logic and reasoning skills, is essential. Attention to detail and the ability to clearly explain the strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of text are also critical for success in this role. Payment for this position is competitive, with current rates for core project work by English writing experts in the US averaging USD $15 per hour. Rates may vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project needs, and other factors. For instance, higher rates may be offered to candidates with PhDs. Additionally, certain projects may offer incentive payments, and it is important to review the payment terms for each project. Please note that this is a 1099 contract opportunity on the Outlier.ai platform, and as a freelance opportunity, Outlier does not offer internships, sponsorship, or employment. Candidates must be authorized to work in their country of residence, and international students may be able to sign up for Outlier if they are on a visa. Responsibilities

Requirements
