About the position

The IT Desktop Support Specialist is a freelance position focused on providing technical assistance and support for the organization's desktop infrastructure. The role requires a strong background in desktop support, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. The specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configuring and deploying desktops, and collaborating with IT teams to resolve complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for desktop-related issues via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Configure and deploy desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Manage and maintain desktop images, drivers, and software updates.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Document and track issues using ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Participate in IT projects, such as desktop upgrades and deployments.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in desktop support.
  • Strong knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Knowledge of desktop hardware and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with software applications (MS Office, productivity tools).
  • Understanding of network fundamentals.
  • Experience with IT service management (ITSM) tools.
  • Experience with desktop management tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune).
  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
