About the position

The Freelance Graphic Designer position at Rothe involves leading graphics and visual product development functions to support NASA's Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity (ODEO). The role focuses on creating custom graphics, enhancing presentation materials, and assisting in the management of visual content for virtual events. This part-time, contract position allows for hybrid work and requires proficiency in various design and communication tools.

Responsibilities

  • Create custom graphics, charts, and diagrams to support presentation content.
  • Work with the NASA HQ OCOMM designer to create visual assets for virtual events, including event slides, banners, and promotional materials.
  • Develop custom PowerPoint templates, including master slides and reusable layouts.
  • Design new PowerPoint slides based on provided content, including text, data, and imagery.
  • Revise and enhance existing PowerPoint slides to improve clarity and impact.
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials, including slide decks and speaker notes.
  • Provide support during virtual events for managing visual content, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring smooth delivery.
  • Work with the communications lead to design and produce post-event materials such as summary reports, highlights, and follow-up communications.
  • Draft internal communications, including newsletters, announcements, and updates, ensuring alignment with ODEO messaging.
  • Review and edit internal communications for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Assist in the distribution of internal communications through appropriate channels (e.g., email, intranet).
  • Provide initial drafts of design and communication materials for review and feedback.
  • Implement feedback and make necessary revisions to meet Client expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver final versions of all materials in the required formats.

Requirements

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), Adobe products, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with creating new visual communication products and editing existing products to enhance visual appeal.
  • Experience developing communications and presentations for executive level leadership.
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn new things and navigate governmental processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in multimedia and integrated technical services.
  • Familiarity with NASA's mission and values.
