About the position

The IT Support Specialist role at NBC Sports Bay Area involves providing onsite technical support for desktop users and assisting the Engineering team with production systems. This position is project-based with an estimated duration of up to 12 months, requiring flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform break-fix/end-user desktop support to users.
  • Assist the Engineering team with software updates, hardware, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to users, collaborating with internal experts and vendors.
  • Configure, install, monitor, and maintain client desktop software and hardware.
  • Support the mobile workforce with technical needs.
  • Create, monitor, and close tickets in ServiceNow to track user support requests.
  • Onboard new users and configure and deploy laptops and desktops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Tech-savvy with a working knowledge of MS Windows & Office.
  • Introductory understanding of networking, TCP/IP, and LAN functionalities.
  • Ability to rapidly learn software systems and demonstrate competence with new technologies.
  • Engaging personality with patience to work with users of all technology levels.
  • Attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
  • Technical background in a help desk environment requiring customer service skills.
  • Education or degree in IT, Computer Science, Networking, System Administration, Cyber Security, or Software Development.
  • Technical Certifications such as CompTIA, A+, Network+.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11, Apple OSX, and MS Office Suite - O365.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory concepts and management.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other ticketing software.
  • Basic networking experience related to desktop support.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field preferred.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
