The Gazette is seeking freelance writers and photographers to cover diverse stories across Colorado, focusing on rural issues and breaking news. This role is ideal for independent contractors with experience in journalism and photography, who can contribute to various topics relevant to Colorado residents.

Responsibilities

• Cover stories in various regions of Colorado, including rural areas and breaking news events.
• Specialize in topics such as cost of living, water, energy, agriculture, healthcare, population growth, affordable housing, wildlife, outdoor recreation, and arts and entertainment.
• Work on longer-range enterprise projects, trend stories, and feature stories.
• Be available to report on breaking news as it occurs in specific locations.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in journalism or photography, particularly in covering news events.
• Ability to work independently as a self-employed contractor.
• Experience in covering issues relevant to rural communities.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Colorado's regional issues and communities.
