About the position

The Freelance Social Media Manager at Daylight L3C is responsible for enhancing the organization's online presence and storytelling capabilities. This role involves developing and leading a communications strategy that aligns with Daylight's values of equity, inclusion, and anti-racism, while also establishing the organization as a thought leader in systemic change and social impact. The position offers flexibility in work hours and the opportunity to work remotely, with a focus on creativity and collaboration within a mission-driven team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, curate, and manage engaging content on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Craft compelling narratives that reflect Daylight's mission and values.
  • Implement social media strategies and identify speaking opportunities to promote Daylight as a thought leader.
  • Monitor, respond to, and engage with followers to foster community.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess social media effectiveness.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends and identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Conduct strategic outreach with notable influencers to uplift community-based efforts.
  • Write and publish insightful blog posts on Medium.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in social media management, particularly on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Strong content creation skills, including writing, graphic design, and basic video editing.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Ability to develop creative, engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in developing and executing social media strategies that drive results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in government/public sector, private sector, nonprofit, philanthropy, social impact, urban planning, or innovation & design.
  • Familiarity with SEO and content optimization for social media.
  • Previous experience in establishing or growing a brand.
