The Big Ten Network is seeking a Freelance Technical Operations Coordinator to join the StudentU team in Chicago. This role is pivotal in ensuring the technical success of streaming broadcasts on the B1G+ platform. The coordinator will be responsible for connecting streaming equipment and managing program feeds from 18 Big Ten campuses, ensuring they are routed correctly for broadcast. This position requires providing remote troubleshooting assistance for any technical issues that may arise before or during broadcasts, ensuring that all production policies and procedures are adhered to during broadcasts, and assisting the Technical Operations Manager with various projects aimed at enhancing the StudentU program. In this role, you will work closely with on-campus contacts to ensure that program feeds are received and routed properly for broadcast. You will also provide remote troubleshooting assistance for connectivity and quality control issues, ensuring that all technical elements are configured according to the event schedule. Collaboration with other departments, including streaming and transmissions, is essential, as is participation in weekly meetings to manage technical equipment for StudentU. Additionally, you will assist in the daily assignment of decoders, routers, and elementals, communicating these assignments effectively to other departments. The Freelance Technical Operations Coordinator will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of control room technologies and signal workflows for streamed broadcasts. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and make sound decisions under tight deadlines is crucial. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary to instruct and assist team members remotely.
