About the position

Deeplocal is seeking a Freelance Technical Project Manager to oversee the technical aspects of installation projects in their Pittsburgh studio. This role requires hands-on engineering experience and the ability to manage complex projects under tight deadlines, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to deliver innovative interactive exhibits for top brands.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated production schedules across owned projects, including engineering, fabrication, integration, and testing timelines.
• Develop and maintain engineering budgets and BOMs across owned projects, ensuring alignment with overarching project budgets.
• Manage specific testing requirements and documentation as requested by clients, collaborating with engineering team members.
• Produce accurate CAD models of mechanical and industrial design systems using SOLIDWORKS, transforming sketches into detailed models.
• Oversee shipping and crating logistics to ensure successful project installation.
• Source, manage, and oversee external engineering and fabrication vendors and freelancers, drafting RFIs, RFPs, and contracts.
• Provide high-level engineering budget and timing estimates for proposals.
• Offer technical consultation and feedback to the creative team on engineering feasibility and approach.
• Communicate technical approaches and implications clearly to clients.

Requirements

• Proficient in CAD software (Solidworks, Rhino, Inventor).
• Knowledge of CNC machines and their limitations.
• Working knowledge of building codes and engineering standards.
• Strong engineering and technical skills with a history of building real-world experiences.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
