About the position

Coversafe, Inc. is a reputable and rapidly growing dealer and installer of Automatic Pool Covers, with operations spanning multiple states across the country. We are currently seeking a Freelance Technical Writer to assist in the creation of various operation and maintenance manuals, as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for our field members. This role is crucial in ensuring that our technical documentation is clear, accurate, and accessible to our team members who rely on these documents for their daily operations. As a Freelance Technical Writer, you will be responsible for preparing written text and coordinating SOP documents according to specific guidelines. You will work closely with leadership and senior technicians to design and clarify technical data, which may include the integration of photographs to enhance understanding. Your ability to independently gather information from subject matter experts will be essential in developing, organizing, and writing comprehensive procedures, technical manuals, technical orders, and process documentation. In addition to creating new documentation, you will also be tasked with identifying, reviewing, and organizing existing documentation to ensure its accuracy, clarity, and consistency. This includes writing, editing, and proofreading technical data, which encompasses detailed and numeric parts lists. Your contributions will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of our technical documentation, ultimately supporting our field members in their work.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare written text and coordinate SOP documents according to specifications.
  • Work closely with leadership and senior Technicians to design/clarify technical data including photos.
  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedures, technical manuals, technical orders, and process documentation.
  • Identify, review, and organize existing documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Write, edit, and proofread technical data, including the detailed and numeric parts lists.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, be proactive, establish priorities and work independently or in teams.
  • Ability to effectively work/collaborate with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams of management, operations and field members.
  • Superior technical writing and editing abilities.
  • Knowledge of editorial practices and standards.
  • Experience in developing highly complex, written content.
