About the position

The Freelance Youth and/or High School Sports Videographer position is an entry-level gig based in Thousand Oaks, CA, designed for individuals passionate about videography and sports. This role involves filming various local school and recreation park sports events, capturing the action in high-quality video formats. The videographer will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary equipment is available and functional, including a stable tripod, memory cards, and backup batteries. The job requires the videographer to have reliable transportation to commute to different filming locations, as well as a computer or laptop equipped with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut. The primary responsibility of the videographer will be to film sports events such as basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball, ensuring to follow the ball action and zoom in on players' celebrations and the scoreboard. The videographer must be proficient in video techniques and capable of troubleshooting any issues that may arise during filming. After filming, the videographer is expected to perform minor editing, which includes adding a title slate and watermark logo, and upload the final footage to a cloud service within 12 hours of the event. This position is part-time and operates on a freelance basis, with pay ranging from $65 to $75 per game filmed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A computer or laptop with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere or Final Cut).
  • Good internet speed to upload footage to a cloud service within the required timeframe.
  • Previous sports video or photo experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience filming sports events for at least one year.
