About the position

The Freight and Inventory Operations Analyst will analyze organizational workflows and processes to gather data that supports improvements in freight operations and inventory management. This role aims to enhance revenue and operational efficiency by translating data into actionable insights, developing data visualizations, and advising on new projects across various levels of the organization. The analyst will also conduct internal audits and assist in departmental analyses to identify opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze freight and inventory data to assist in finding opportunities to improve operations.
  • Identify deficiencies and areas for improvement and redesign processes accordingly.
  • Apply statistical analysis, simulations, and predictive modeling to analyze current procedures.
  • Recommend new strategies based on data collection to the Senior Logistics Manager.
  • Assist the SO&P Inventory Planning and Control Manager to ensure system monitors are functioning properly and escalate any risks or findings.
  • Create and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for new processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and dashboards as needed.
  • Create, develop, and monitor centralized data storage standards and reporting structures.
  • Conduct investigative internal audits and create reports of findings.
  • Complete daily logs, trackers, and internal systems with detailed information as needed.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities for the Supply Chain Logistics and Inventory Team.
  • Enable effective decision-making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources into actionable insights.
  • Escalate to the manager when a risk or scenario is impacting network performance.
  • Provide visibility to management and internal customers by creating a centralized database.
  • Support the department in identifying, analyzing, and reporting on key projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of KPIs/metrics and associated data collection related to cost reduction in inventory overhead and freight costs.
  • Display a team-player attitude.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 3 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel including macros and advanced pivot tables.
  • Proficient in Power BI or Tableau and experienced with SQL.
  • 3-5 years' experience in operations, logistics, and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and data management.
  • Strong understanding of the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Ability to analyze large, complex data sets using various software and tools.
  • Comfortable with database administration skills and resources.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Goal-oriented and organized team player.
  • Ability to analyze data and statistics and translate results into better solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of management.
