About the position

The Teacher position is designed to facilitate student learning and development in a supportive and engaging classroom environment. The role involves planning and implementing educational programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, guiding them towards achieving curriculum goals, and maintaining a conducive learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers, and evaluates their job performance cooperatively with department heads.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • May require remote work during health crises or disruptive situations.

Requirements

  • State certification as required by state authorities.
