About the position

The Fresh Foods Clerk at WinCo Foods plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service while managing fresh food products. This position involves engaging with customers, preparing and displaying food items, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. The clerk is responsible for ensuring product quality and freshness, adhering to food safety procedures, and contributing to the overall mission of providing affordable groceries to the community.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes, engages, serves, and thanks customers.
• Maintains a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere of customer service.
• Takes orders, answers questions, and performs suggestive selling.
• Prepares, stocks, displays, straightens, and rotates product in fresh food cases.
• Prepares production items according to recipes and food safety procedures.
• Handles frozen products and inspects all products for quality and freshness.
• Prepares cases by putting products in fresh pans and rotating stock.
• Places proper signage on all products, including pricing and descriptions.
• Cleans and maintains department equipment and work areas.
• Receives inventory, stocks, and verifies receipt of ordered products.
• Follows strict sanitary guidelines and completes associated records.

Requirements

• Ability to work varied hours primarily between 5:00 am to 10:00 pm, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Effective communication skills to interact with customers.
• Ability to conduct visual inspections and follow production guides and recipes.
• Basic math skills for computing weights and measures.
• Mental alertness to handle potential hazards with respect to equipment and procedures.
• Completion of training course and meeting minimum productivity standards.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
