About the position

The Bookkeeper at Fresh Grocer is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while managing various financial transactions, including handling deposits, reporting store sales, and ensuring compliance with company security procedures. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized work environment and assisting other associates as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a great customer experience while handling all forms of tender.
• Report store sales and handle deposits and receipts.
• Maintain equipment and supplies.
• Assist Courtesy Counter Associates as needed.
• Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Adhere to security policies and procedures.
• Perform cash handling procedures and make change with all denominations of American currency.
• Record store sales and hourly readings.
• Balance drawers and manage house funds, lottery, and other areas as necessary.
• Order supplies and change as needed.
• Report any suspicious activity or mishandling of funds.
• Utilize and maintain equipment as required by the department.

Requirements

• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products without negative allergic consequences.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to tolerate dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to comply with all time and attendance policies.
