About the position

The Fresh Produce Associate at Capitol City Produce is responsible for receiving and organizing produce in the warehouse, ensuring proper rotation and compliance with safety and operational standards. This full-time position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall efficiency of the produce distribution process.

Responsibilities

• Move all produce from the dock to its designated cooler.
• Utilize the Produce Pro system and scan all pallets to complete forklift transactions.
• Breakdown pallets and sort product by item as needed.
• Maintain, organize, and rotate product in coolers daily.
• Verify that all incoming produce is properly tagged before placing it in inventory.
• Use pre-printed labels to affix coordinating labels to proper boxes.
• Inspect produce for freshness and proper ripeness, discarding old produce as necessary.
• Sweep up spilled product and maintain a clean work environment.
• Ensure all work activities meet food safety standards and provide feedback for process improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous forklift operating experience preferred.
• Experience in receiving and warehouse operations preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Must be able to work weekends and overtime.
• Physically able to move objects up to and exceeding 200 lbs with reasonable accommodation.
• Reliable transportation is required.
