About the position
The Fresh Produce Specialist is responsible for increasing sales and market penetration of fresh categories, including Produce and COP (protein items). This role involves providing category expertise, conducting product demonstrations, and offering consultative services to customers to enhance their utilization of fresh products. The specialist will work independently and collaboratively with Territory Managers to drive growth and achieve market objectives.
Responsibilities
- Drive penetration and growth of assigned categories through consultative sales activities with targeted customers.
- Provide product expertise and sales support for all aspects of the category, including promotional opportunities and competitive information.
- Drive KPIs across fresh categories, working with Territory Managers to refine product offerings and pricing.
- Support category-specific product conversion activities and new item sales opportunities.
- Assist Territory Managers in opening new accounts and provide specific product expertise during account visits.
- Train Territory Managers on top penetration priorities and coach them during ride-alongs.
- Develop and present selling and training materials in conjunction with Category Management.
- Demonstrate product use and provide consulting expertise to customers on product features and benefits.
- Acquire and provide marketing intelligence and customer feedback on product offerings and trends.
- Promote business solutions to top customers and facilitate lead transitions to the Business Solutions team.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in COP or Produce categories with deep product knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with solid interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Willingness to learn about both COP and Produce categories.
