About the position

The Front Desk Agent at Hotel Vesper - Tribute by Marriott is responsible for greeting and registering guests, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring a smooth check-out process. This role is crucial in maintaining the hotel's high standards of quality and guest satisfaction, operating within a 24/7 environment that requires flexibility in shifts and hours worked.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome.
  • Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system.
  • Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs.
  • Code electronic keys, certificates, and coupons as appropriate.
  • Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods.
  • Handle cash; make change and balance assigned house bank.
  • Accept and record vouchers, travelers checks, and other forms of payment.
  • Post charges to guest rooms and house accounts using the computer.
  • Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English communication.
  • Close guest accounts at the time of check out and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Field guest complaints and conduct thorough research to develop effective solutions.
  • Remain calm and alert during emergency situations and heavy hotel activity.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as per company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Entry-level position requiring under 1 year of experience in hospitality or customer service.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers with patience and tact.
  • Considerable skill in using a calculator and performing moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.
  • Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior hospitality experience preferred but not required.
