About the position

Augusta Medical Care, LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting our patients and healthcare providers by ensuring that the office runs smoothly and efficiently. This position involves a variety of tasks that are essential for patient care and office operations. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for verifying patient information, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with various medical procedures. This role requires a strong commitment to patient confidentiality and the ability to communicate effectively with both patients and medical staff. In this position, you will be responsible for securing medical records, maintaining the inventory of medical supplies, and performing preventive maintenance on medical equipment. You will also assist in scheduling surgeries and preparing necessary documentation, ensuring that all patient information is accurate and up-to-date. The Medical Assistant will play a key role in enhancing the practice's reputation by providing excellent patient care and adhering to professional standards and legal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, along with relevant certifications such as BLS and Certified Medical Assistant. Experience with EMR systems is preferred, as is a strong background in medical documentation and patient interaction. This is a full-time position with a schedule of 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, offering a competitive starting pay of $14.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of visit.
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting patient history summary.
  • Assists with office procedures such as laser surgeries and tear duct probes to save the ophthalmologist's time.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, including diagnostic and procedure coding.
  • Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and addressing questions about surgery.
  • Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical center, verifying times with patients, and preparing charts, pre-admission, and consent forms.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Ensures equipment operates effectively by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS Certification (Preferred).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred).
  • 1 year of experience with EMR systems (Preferred).
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
