About the position

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming and professional experience.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and explain benefits and responsibilities to patients.
  • Obtain pre-authorizations for patient visits, ultrasounds, and vascular procedures from various health insurance companies, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to gather necessary documentation for pre-authorization requests.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of patient encounters and pre-authorization statuses in the practice management system.
  • Handle patient inquiries related to insurance coverage and billing questions.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the office calendar to optimize patient flow and staff efficiency.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required, such as check-in/check-out, answering phones, and managing correspondence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office setting, with specific experience in health insurance pre-authorizations required.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance policies.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and office software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously with high attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
  • Experience with EMR systems (1 year preferred)
  • Experience with vital signs (1 year preferred)
