About the position

The Front Desk Medical Receptionist at Abilities in Action is responsible for managing the front desk operations in a busy pediatric therapy practice. This role involves scheduling appointments, collecting payments, verifying insurance benefits, and assisting with billing while maintaining accurate medical records. The receptionist will also greet patients, answer phone calls, and provide information about patient care, all while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments for patients and manage the appointment calendar.
  • Collect payments and verify insurance benefits for services rendered.
  • Assist with billing processes and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems and greet patients in a welcoming manner.
  • Provide information regarding patient care and treatment when possible.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the medical industry required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems for at least 1 year required.
  • 3 years of experience as a receptionist required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an administrative team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a pediatric therapy setting.
